We are a group of women who are passionate about women and equality for all issues. Our group consists of Rachel Wang, Jayna Gagner, Kelly Scribner, and Brianna Dickey. Our group blog project approaches the broader topic: feminism itself. We set up the blog as a feminist magazine which consists of many aspects that relate to current topics in world of feminism. Our blog’s name is “Wahine” which is Hawaiian for woman. Including what’s described below, the blog will include a quote of the day that focuses on the empowerment of women and an “About Us” section that gives our readers a sense of where we're coming from as a feminist and our background experiences of feminism.

News/ Current events- (Everyone)
This section will be about feminism in politics and the world around us. We will each contribute to the overall outcome to this portion of the blog. We will look at laws passed that effect women’s rights and events that occur daily in the public that has an impact on every woman’s life.

Bibliographies- (Jayna)
This section will be about specific people who have shown themselves to stand for the rights of women. To start off, Jayna will write about Rebecca Walker, author of Black White and Jewish. It will be a short section about Rebecca Walker, who she is, what she does and has done, how her works are feminist or what her works say about feminism. In sum, this portion of the blog will praise one specific feminist at a time and her accomplishments.

Sex/ Love- (Kelly)
For this portion of the blog Kelly will be discussing how feminism plays a role in sex. While discussing the topic of sex she will not only be discussing intimacy but she will also take a close look at things associated with sex including gender roles, birth control, abortion, etc. She will be taking a close look at specific articles from different magazines as well as books and internet websites. Hopefully by examining these areas she will be able to show our readers how feminism is connected to the most personal part of our lives.

Fashion- (Rachel)
As a woman who experienced the pressure of media and body image, Rachel invites all readers to follow our blog as she explores the topic of feminism and fashion. Can you be a feminist but also be fashionable? What is feminist fashion like? Who are the strong feminist role models in the fashion industry? What are third wave feminists' views on body image? Etc. She thinks it is important to realize that our bodies are not a measurement of our achievement or self-worth. As Julia Serano puts it, fashion can be a fearless way of expressing our sexualities and personalities. Don't you think it's time we begin embracing ourselves for who we are?

Pop Culture- (Brianna)
This section will be about feminism in the media- music, movies, and books. Brianna will look in to each aspect of the media to find how women are portrayed, to find people who specifically show attributes of feminism, and to find empowerment through visual, audio, and written expressions of being a woman. The media is such an integrated part of our lives; through examining it critically we can find hidden hints of feminism issues surrounding us daily.
